I have to turn the settings to Low Spec and run at 1440x900 and even then the frame rates can be so poor it makes some of the fight sequences next to impossible. I’ve had to switch the game to Easy mode to simply get through some of the battles because the frame rates are so bad you have no chance of reacting appropriately or in time to get through it. If this weren’t the case this game would get a five stars hands down, for the story is very immersive, the main and side quests fun and engaging, and overall a solid action RPG.
Personally I find it very annoying there is no “jump” action like most games have, space bar jumpI find myself trying to jump over small roots and annoyingly have to walk all the way around them when a simple “jump” ability would be much smoother. But then again, if I were able to smoothly jump over roots on the path there’s no way the frame rates would keep up with moving so elegantly so perhaps that’s for the better. The RPG is beautiful, with some of the best graphics to date, but the technical issues, like framerate (even on recent hardware, its nearly impossible to run on higher settings), and convoluted story kind of bog the experience down. It’s best to play the first one, or read the novellas before trying to embark on this game’s quest because the story is so deep, to get the full impact, some background knowledge is needed. If you’re not at all going to pay attention to that, then the game is good, but not great. B5A7, Worst purchase everI am trying to run Witcher 2 on a max spec’d iMac 27, 4.2Ghz i7 processor, 32GB RAM, SSD, Radeon Pro 580 8GB, with the latest OSX and this game struggles. The mouse is laggy and the cut scenes have low frame rates. On top of that the game crashes every time I have tried to play it.
After 3 hours of attempting to play this game, I haven’t even gotten to a point that I can save my progress. And finally, the description of “stunning graphics the best-looking game on Mac” is no where close to reality. This game may have been ok on Windows, but the port to the Mac just doesn’t work.

Your loss, such a classic.Well the graphics are still perfectly acceptable for me, I replayed this multiple times. One of my favorite games ever. People who like it should really buy it themselves on GOG. No crack needed, no launcher needed. Just the exe as it should be.I do not have a issue with the combat.
LOVE the story and the mood and everything about the games. I actually think Witcher 1 is better then 2.When it comes to the really shitty looking titles like Baldurs Gate, even BG2 HD or whatever they call the 'remaster' these games turn me off because of pixels and ugly UI. Witcher 1 on the other hand pretty much meets my standards, still in 2020 I think.
I have not played it in years and probably will not play it again. Just replaying Mass Effect 2 with a few mods. There is another tool like XPadder and I do not buy your 'its buggy' excuse.
Its 2020 these tools simply bind gamepad buttons and axis to KB+mouse. Thats no rocket science. If there is not a tool that is matured and works I eat my dick. Last time I one like it was years ago and it was perfectly fine after I configured it. The config was annoying but once that was done it went fine.But why would to want to play that game with gamepad, its designed with KB+M in mind. Its kind of a isometric/3rd person mix. You click on enemies to attack.
Could be playable with a smart gamepad binding setup but still it will never really be better I think.Steam has now a tool integrated to do this as well, not sure if it works with 3rd party games but its basically the same thing, they market it for the steam controller but it works for xbox controllers as well. Actually sorry guys, I was trying to concentrate on too many things at once when I rushed that comment in there! 😖I only ever used AHK for simply remapping keyboard keys as it's the best app for this by far imo.In the past the best gamepad remapper I used was GlovePIE but that was a while ago & the last couple of times I tried it it kept crashing. Tried a few others (Xpadder, FreePIE, etc) but none were as intuitive as this.I don't have time to research this stuff much anymore so if anyone comes up with a new currently maintained app that does what GlovePIE used to do so well please by all means let us know.
