Aliens: Colonial Marines is a first-person shooter developed by Gearbox Software and based on the Alien science fiction film series. It was published by Sega for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 in 2013. A sequel to James Cameron's 1986 film Aliens, the game follows a group of Colonial Marines, a fictional military unit, as they confront the Weyland-Yutani corporation in an effort to rescue survivors from the Sulaco spaceship. After seeing all of the disappointment from Aliens fans over Aliens Colonial Marines, I decided to look around for mods that fix the problems. Here is what I found.
First, Gearbox released a patch that fixes many, many issues with the game. The most notable change is that they tweaked enemy and friendly AI to be more aggressive and responsive. They also fixed friendly AI navigation errors, improved texture resolution, and fixed many bugs in the original game.

A more comprehensive list of updates can be found here. This second thing that I found is a mod that increases the difficulty when fighting Xenomorphs. This mod makes Xenomorphs 5x more powerful, and their acid 4x more powerful. This mod can be found here. If that is too hard, there is also a version that only increases Xenomorph and Acid damage by 3x. That one can be found here.
The directions for stopping corpses from disappearing, as well as many other tweaks, can be found here. Last, I found additional visual mods that improve contrast, color, and add DX11 lighting effects to the game. The mods and directions on how to use them can be found below this Youtube video that demonstrates the results. These mods seem to make the game look much better overall.
